I have some Google Voice invites and I was wondering if anyone wanted any. Smiley Basically, Google Voice is a service that works with the telephone in many different ways. It can be used for voice mail, call forwarding, free VoIP calling and if you have an ATA device (such as the Linksys PAP2T) it can even be used as a free home phone service.

There are also many ways it can be used like:

- A number to give online friends that you don't want to give your actual telephone number.
- A second phone line if you don't have a cell phone and your house phone is constantly being used by your parents or siblings.
- A number to give credit card companies and other companies that usually give your numbers to solicitors.
- A local number for friends to call so they don't have to call your long distance (or international) number.
- A service to use to get totally free calls to any number in USA and Canada.
- A service to get cheap International calls (You get .10 free for signing up to try it out Smiley)
- A USA number for your friends to call if you live in another country.
- A number to send text messages to your friends for free.
- A number to use in your Fav5 (or whatever unlimited calling circle you have) to use to call out to any US and Canada number without using any minutes on your mobile phone! Smiley

And many, many more ways to use it!

Also if you want an invite and don't live in the US you'll need to use a USA proxy and get a USA forwarding number to activate it. You can get one at many sites such as ipkall.com and sipgate.com.

After you  activate your account with a US number you then can use it with VoIP services such as SIP Gate, Gizmo5 and more. If you need help setting it up or activating feel free to ask me.

Also I have some Google Wave invites if anyone wants an invite for that, let me know! Smiley

Well, like I said in the first post, there are many ways to use it. A free VoIP provider, a telephone number to give out to people on the Internet when you don't want to give out your real number, a voice mail box for people to call and ask you questions, A place to record voice memos with unlimited storage, use as your voice mail for your cellphone (by forwarding unanswered calls to it) to get unlimited voice mail storage with automated transcripts, a place to send text message for free and many more ways to use it. I love Google Voice. I'm planning to get an Android phone soon, and it integrates (sp?) very well with Android OS.

Anyway, for uses -- to get free VoIP calls and texts! http://lifehacker.com/5349506/make-free-voip-calls-from-google-voice/

Also since Gizmo5 sign ups are temporarily unavailable since Google took it over you can sign up for another service called Sip Gate]http://lifehacker.com/5349506/make-free-voip-calls-from-google-voice/url]

. You can set Sip Gate as your forwarding phone and use either their VoIP software or some other software like X-Lite.

Also, there are Google Voice checker extensions for Chrome users (Me! Anyone else?) and they make Google Voice more useful.

But there's also ones for desktops, such as http://lifehacker.com/5428836/googsystray-notifies-you-of-new-activity-across-google-services-in-one-system-tray-app and a client for Adobe AIR. http://rstoeber.com/apps/Google_Voice_Utility.html

Yes, you'll need a US proxy to sign-up (Since they block registration from, non-us IP addresses) and you'll also need a US phone number to activate it.
You could get a US number through SIP Gate, though you need to register with a phone that can get SMS. I can help you with this by registering an account for you. Once you're registered you'll then need to download their SIP Phone software and enter the number they provide you with to activate Google Voice. It will call the SIP Phone and ask you to enter a two-digit number to verify you own the number. After you enter it your Google Voice account will be activated and you wont need to use a proxy anyone once it's activated. Smiley

You can use the SIP phone software from SIP Gate and Google Voice to make calls, or if you don't like their software you can use other SIP software like X-Lite, though you'll need to enter SIP Gate's SIP credentials to use it which can be found on the SIP Gate web site.

Once I get home from school I'll create a SIP Gate account for you using your email address and I'll send you the Google voice invitation email. Make sure you go to SIP gate first then use the Google Voice invite. Also for your Google Voice invite you can use any Google account you want since the invite is not tied to the email it's sent to.

If you need any help setting it up or doing other things feel free to ask me.  Smiley

EDIT:

I just registered an account with your email and emailed you the password. Make sure you verify the SIP gate account within 24 hours.
